As we discussed in Commodore Research's most recent Weekly Executive Report, wind power production in China averaged 88.8 billion kilowatt hours in January/February. This is down month-on-month by 3.3 billion kilowatt hours (-4%) but is up year-on-year by 13.9 billion kilowatt hours (19%). Wind power production in China has again exceeded hydropower production. This has now occurred during each of the last four months. Also significant is that wind power production in China now almost always rises on a year-on-year basis.
Hydropower production averaged 73.1 billion kilowatt hours in January/February. This is down month-on-month by 9.6 million kilowatt hours (-12%) but is up year-on-year by 3.6 billion kilowatt hours (5%). Hydropower output has now grown on a year-on-year basis for three straight months after previously contracting on a year-on-year basis for three straight months.
Nuclear power production averaged 37.3 billion kilowatt hours in January/February. This is down month-on-month by 5.1 billion kilowatt hours (-12%) but is up year-on-year by 3.6 billion kilowatt hours (3%).
Solar power production averaged 36.2 billion kilowatt hours in January/February. This is up month-on-month by 4.7 billion kilowatt hours (15%) and is up year-on-year by 11.7 billion kilowatt hours (48%). While wind power production in China now almost always rises on a year-on-year basis, solar power production is at the point where it always rises on a year-on-year basis.
